Cosmetic Dentistry

A beautiful smile is one of the most sought after cosmetic features in the world. People from all backgrounds and professions want a bright, straight smile, and we are here to help turn that desire into reality. Whether through minor adjustments or major treatment plans, our cosmetic dentistry practice aims to improve your smile and help you build confidence in the way your teeth look.

Bonding

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure in which Dr. Harbin applies an enamel-like material to the surface of your tooth to improve its shape, fill gaps, cover stains, or to improve the overall appearance.

Bonding is often the procedure of choice for teeth that have small cavities, chips, or broken surfaces. Because the material is custom shaded to fit your smile, it can also cover the entire surface of a tooth to enhance its color and appearance.

If you are considering dental bonding in Gaylord, Michigan, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with our dentist. Dr. Harbin can review with you the benefits and process of dental bonding and determine whether this procedure is right for your smile. Please call Otsego Dental Group at (989) 448‑2664 today to speak with our friendly dental team and arrange your visit!

Porcelain Dental Veneers

Dental veneers can be placed on the surface of crooked, misshaped, or badly stained teeth to enhance their appearance. A dental veneer is a thin shell made of composite or porcelain which is cemented onto the front of a tooth transforming the shape and/or color. Dr. Harbin may recommend dental veneers for teeth that are too short, discolored, chipped, crooked, misshaped, or unevenly spaced. With a longer life expectancy than dental bonding, veneers are highly resistant to staining caused by tea, coffee, or smoking.

Your veneers are created by a dental lab technician working with our dentist, and typically require three appointments for treatment planning, preparation, and application. Following your consultation with our dentist, you will need to return to Otsego Dental Group to have your teeth prepared. Dr. Harbin may lightly buff the teeth to remove about a half millimeter of enamel so your teeth can accommodate the veneers. We will also take a mold of the teeth and send it to our dental lab to create the final veneers.

At the final appointment, the dentist will clean your teeth with special chemicals that create a bond and then apply the cement and the veneer to the tooth. Finally, a light is used to harden the cement holding the veneer.

Dental veneers are very thin shells, typically made of porcelain or resin, that are bonded to the front of your teeth to enhance the beauty of your smile. Our dentist may recommend dental veneers to correct several types of smile imperfections. Porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for enhancing your smile because the color and translucence of porcelain is a great match for the natural appearance of tooth enamel. Porcelain is stain resistant as well, so your smile will stay bright for years to come. Resin veneers can also be matched to your natural tooth color. With dental veneers, you can achieve a beautiful, natural-looking smile that you will love to show off.

Our dentist may recommend dental veneers if you would like to improve the appearance of your smile. Custom-made veneers can be used for just one tooth or for your entire smile. We may suggest veneers to:

  • Close large spaces and gaps between teeth
  • Whiten teeth that are severely stained or discolored
  • Improve the appearance of irregularly shaped teeth
  • Correct slightly crooked teeth
  • Restore teeth that are broken, chipped, worn or fractured

We invite you to call or visit our office today to learn more about custom dental veneers and how we can enhance your smile. We look forward to hearing from you!

After two weeks, you will have a follow-up appointment to determine if any changes need to be made. It is important that you brush and floss daily to keep your veneers bright. You are welcome to contact our office at (989) 448‑2664 with any questions about receiving dental veneers in Gaylord, Michigan.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can effectively enhance teeth that are dull, discolored, or stained. When tooth enamel wears away, the darker tissue underneath becomes exposed, making the teeth appear duller.

Foods like berries and soy sauce and drinks such as tea and coffee can all have a staining effect on the teeth. Tooth decay will also make the teeth look darker and discolored.

Many patients are turning to teeth whitening to remove stains. While commercial whitening toothpastes can remove some surface stains, many are too abrasive and will remove tooth enamel. Over-the-counter whitening agents can only remove minor staining, and make no difference for deep stains.

Otsego Dental Group offers professional teeth whitening to help your smile achieve a brilliant shine. Our whitening treatment can last for years. Dr. Harbin utilizes a powerful whitening gel that is applied to your teeth to lighten the color of your enamel and remove deep stains. Our dentist will help you determine if teeth whitening is the proper procedure for your smile. Teeth that are pitted or badly discolored with brown or gray stains may benefit from dental bonding, veneers, or crowns to achieve a healthier and more cosmetic appearance.

Teeth whitening is a simple, effective cosmetic dental treatment that we offer to noticeably enhance your smile in as little as one treatment. Our professional teeth whitening treatments utilize a powerful yet safe whitening gel that is applied to the surface of your teeth. This gel works to lighten the appearance of stains, discoloration and yellowing on the tooth enamel. Professional teeth whitening can give you a noticeably whiter smile that will boost your self-esteem and help you smile with pride.

If you have ever wished that your smile were whiter and brighter, teeth whitening might be right for you. Through professional teeth whitening, we can lighten staining and discoloration caused by various factors, such as:

  • The natural aging process
  • Poor dental hygiene habits
  • Consumption of certain drinks and foods, including tea, wine, coffee and soda
  • Smoking and other forms of tobacco use
  • Illness
  • Certain medications
  • Fluorosis

Our dentist will work with you to determine the right type of treatment and treatment length to achieve the smile aesthetic you desire. To learn more about professional teeth whitening and to set up your consultation at our office, please call us today.
